It looks like the M-14 rifle is still being used by many countries. This one story is from the Philippines and features an M14 rifle being stolen from the police.

Suspected NPA rebels attack police outpost in Sagay City

Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels attacked a police outpost in Sagay City Friday night.

Eight armed men reportedly barged in to community police action center in Barangay Vito in Sagay City in Negros Occidental Friday 6:30 p.m.

The armed men took the M14 rifles of two members of special civilian active auxiliary who were then manning the outpost.A police report said the suspects looked like fishermen in the area. The report said that the suspects fled using a pump boat. It also said the armed men had a blocking force that was set up in other parts of the barangay. Before leaving, the suspects left flyers containing a statement from the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command of the NPA in northern Negros.

The statement condemned President Arroyo and said their action was part of the tactical offensives launched against the government.
