Krinker Plinker Ruger 10/22 Kit
Krinker Plinker
The
Krinker Plinker is a complete kit that takes your Ruger 10/22 receiver and turns it into a copy of the AKSU/74 "Krinkov" except yours is chambered in .22lr.
The Krinker Plinker comes in either a 16" barrel title-1 configuration or an 8" SBR title-2 configuration. The Krinker Plinker that I ordered was the 8" title-2 SBR kit. The kit itself came shipped in a very small box, my assistant didn't even realize it was a gun kit when he signed for it. Literally it could fit in the glove compartment of a large vehicle. Now onto the specifics:
Instructions were okay, but if you are a novice expect to spend a lot of time trying to figure out some of the things that the manufacturer must assume everyone would know. For instance the instructions make numerous references to nut and wrench sizes, but other than trial and error the novice has no idea which one is which. The pictures are also not very clear, so expect to take some time reviewing things pretty carefully before attempting any steps outlined. If you proceed with care, you will however find that you are able to complete each step. One complaint I'll have about the instructions however is there are several references to refer to the krinker-plinker.com website, but there is nothing there :-)
Fit the parts that come are
TIGHT fitting. I had particular trouble putting the handgrip nut onto my gun, and ended up banging up the front piece a bit getting it hammered in. Even using a soft brass drift punch managed to put some small dents into it. So be careful with this step. I also had to dremel the lower handguard to put a slight bevel onto the edge that slides into the frame. Just take it slow and take only a slight amount of plastic off and try and fit the lower handguard in. It will manage to fit very easily with just a slight bevel added to it.
The other thing about the Krinker Plinker is the mag well is
really tight so much so that my Butler Creek 25rd mags did not fit at all after assembling my gun. After lots of WD40, I was able to get my Eagle Mags in and after inserting and removing them several times the Butler Creek mags fit fine.
Finish on the Krinker Plinker is excellent. It appears to be a hard black anodizing of sorts, and presents itself as one slick package. The top handguard is ventilated, and the integral sight rail allows you to accessorize the rifle well. The folding stock is a bit short, however that is because it is based on the Romanian AK folding design which was really meant for short statured Romanians and not big Americans like me.
All in all, I'd give the Krinker Plinker two mag dumps :-) That is a positive endorsement, especially if you go the SBR route as it offers you a unique and compact plinker!
