The Walther P22 is an excellent semi-automatic pistol that we reviewed previously Walther P22 Review. One of the features that we really liked about the Walther P22 was the fact that the barrel came from the factory threaded. The Walther P22 barrel is factory threaded with a barrel nut screwed on the end to retain the barrel.

Walther P22 Accessories

The Walther P22 has a host of accessories made for it. One reason why there are so many accessories available for the Walther P22 is the fact that they are popular guns. With that popularity comes the incentive to creative people to make accessories that are desireable to owners of these guns.

The Walther P22 has two features that lend itself well to making accessories for it. The first is the factory threaded barrel, and the second is the accessory rail below the barrel of the gun. The factory threaded barrel is used to install a barrel nut which retains the barrel from sliding off of the gun. The accessory rail below the barrel of the gun is made to accept a wide range of accessories such as flashlights and lasers.

The Walther P22 accessory that we will be reviewing is the common 1/2x28tpi thread adapter. Many manufacturers make these, we bought our Walther P22 Thread Adapter from KeepShooting.com. The adapter itself appears to be made by Tactical Innovations, who is well known for doing good quality work on firearms and firearms accessories. The adapter is made with an external 1/2x28tpi male thread, which has become the de-facto standard thread pitch for .22 caliber firearms. This includes the M16/AR15 weapons platform, as that is also a .22 caliber firearm howver it is .223 Remington instead of .22lr.

The Walther P22 thread adapter is well made, and according to the manufacturer is made on precision controlled CNC machines. Reading this made me very comfortable to use the thread adapter to mount my suppressor. The Walther P22 was made to be shot suppressed, as suppressors are not regulated in Europe the way they are here in the states.

The Walther P22 thread adpater is very easy to install. Following the instructions in the Walther P22 manual, I knew that I needed the small wrench that came with the gun to remove the barrel nut. After removing the barrel nut, I was able to easily use the same wrench to install the Walther P22 thread adpter.

I am happy to report that the thread adpater that I ordered came with a nice thread protector. If you install a thread adapter on your Walther P22, please make sure you keep the thread protector on it when you are not using any other muzzle attachment. This will protect the precision threads, and ensure that you will have reliable trouble-free performance from your Walther P22 thread adapter.
