AR-15 Golf Ball Launcher

Golf Ball Launcher

Fans of Golf who also enjoy shooting finally have an opportunity to combine their two passions into one sport. This is made possible by the recent invention of the golf ball launcher.

What is a Golf Ball Launcher

A golf ball launcher is a device which mounts on the end of a firearm that is designed to fire golf balls. The inner diameter of of the golf ball launcher is 1.68 inches which is the United States Golf Association's Official Ball Diameter. The golf balls are launched using either standard cartridge signal blanks or in some cases grenade launching blanks. Extra care must be taken when using grenade launching blanks as not all golf ball launchers are capable of the increased pressure they utilize.

Who Makes Golf Ball Launchers

There are currently two companies making high quality golf ball launchers. The first company is Bloom Automatic with the second being NcStar. While both companies make golf ball launchers, there are several differences that set each companies product apart.

The Bloom Automatic launcher utilizes set screws for installation. This should make the Bloom Automatic launcher more of a universal type launcher that can be adapted to other firearms quite easily. Their product info page shows their launcher on everything from an AR15 to a MAC10.

The NcStar launcher utilizes your rifle barrels threads for installation. The thread pitch on the NcStar launcher is the standard 1/2x28tpi, making it perfect for your AR-15 or M-16 rifle. It will of course work on any gun that has a barrel threaded 1/2x28tpi.

Launching Golf Balls

Once you have purchased a golf ball launcher you will want to try shooting it. Our experience with launching golf balls has proven to be great fun! Here is what we recommend--

  • Purchase the cheapest golf ball launcher you can find. Do not spend more than $30 as you will likely only shoot it once or twice a year.

  • Purchase the cheapest golf balls you can find. You will likely either lose or damage every one you launch, so go cheap here

  • Purchase a threaded golf ball launcher as it will allow you to safely shoot both grenade cartridge and blank cartridge golf balls. You will want the extra distance of the grenade cartridges, trust us.

  • Purchase a quantity of both 5.56 blanks and 5.56 grenade launching cartridges. You will want to get at least 50 of each.

    Golf Ball Launcher Safety Warning

We cannot stress this enough, do not point your golf ball launcher at anyone or anything living. The velocity of the golf ball can injure, maim, or kill. Know your backstop and what is 600-800 yards behind it. Do not use high powered grenade launching blanks if your launcher prohibits them.
