Slingshot: Marksman Packalong Slingshot

I have fond memories of my childhood where I spent many afternoons shooting rocks with my trusty slingshot. The slingshot that I had at that time was hand made by my uncle, and I can remember clearly how it felt in my hand. With practice I was able to shoot down tin cans, scare rabbits, and cause all sorts of mischief :-)
During the summer of 2003, I decided that I was going to do more hiking in the woods at Great Falls Park in Great Falls, Virginia. After a few treks in the woods, I started to get very bored during these hikes. I knew that if I did not find some way to add some variety to the hikes, I would soon find myself making excuses not to go. After discussing with some friends what I could do to make the hikes more entertaining, someone suggested I get a slingshot to take with me.
After spending some time looking around at Sports Authority, Target, and Walmart I couldn't really find anything that looked like it would take the abuse I knew I would give it. Eventually I decided to shop on-line, as that would give me an excuse to atleast skip one weekend at the park :-) After looking around I found the Marksman Packalong slingshot, which met the following criteria that I had set:
1. The slingshot had to be black. Don't know why, but black looks best to me.
2. The slingshot had to be able to fold to fit in my back pack.
3. The slingshot had to have replacement bands available off-the-shelf.
I decided to place my order and ended up buying my
slingshot from slingshotworld.com. While their price was a couple of dollars higher, their shipping was by far the cheapest and their website showed plenty in stock. I placed my order on a Wednesday afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised to find my new slingshot waiting for me at my mailbox Friday night.
So how does the Marksman Packalong rate? I'd have to say its a solid 7. Its well made, the folding wrist brace is easy to operate, and it is rugged and durable enough to withstand the abuse I gave it. Best of all, there are not a lot of "gadgets" hanging off of this thing, which is definately a plus when your hiking in the woods. Considering how much fun I have had with my slingshot, it was really a great buy. I've even had the chance to use it around my property to chase away stray dogs who had wandered onto my land to bother my dogs.
Pro's: Price, construction, ease of use, excellent value.
Con's: Replacing the rubber band isn't very easy. If they could fix this, it would be a 10.
